Houdini - Physically Accurate Vinyl

Useless, therefore essential !
This is a breakdown of my procedural vinyl mesh, generated entirely in Houdini from a .wav file.
The groove is physically accurate and could actually play the audio on a real turntable, just like a real vinyl.
I’ve learned a lot about how vinyl records actually work, it’s a fascinating blend of math and physics that turns grooves into sound.
For this test, I used GEN.KLOUD – VIRUS, a 3:26-minute track. The resulting mesh contains approximately 28 million polygons 🤯
